Strange fibre speedtest result

Any idea why http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results.html... would show only 11Mbps avg on x1 download but 33Mbps on x6 download just started doing this in the last 2 weeks (done 4 tests wit hsame results) but 3 weeks ago both results were about the same and have been for the last year, am on a 40Mbps connection.
Is this a fault with my connection or with the thinkbroadband tester or something plusnet has put in place recently.
Don't want to raise a ticket if it's a tester fault, just never seen this before

40ms ping - I would get that ping sorted out!

This difference can be down to how much the serverers providing the service or you pc can handle per connection.
Has anything changed?
Have you tried multiple speed test sites or servers which you connect to?

Bearing in mind using a connection (even just refreshing a page) while performing speed tests can skew the results. I've obviously no idea if that's something you were doing but it's worth considering .

Possibly be congestion, either at the exchange or at the ISP.

Alternatively - are you testing via wireless? I've see that show similar results previously.

Have you possibly changed gateway? That often happens when you disconnect and reconnect. A couple of them do seem to get congested now and then, unless the cause is several very heavy users happening to end up on the same one at the same time.

Adam know better than to do anything else with the connection when running a speed test but you have to ask will pm you my username to see if there is a problem

Adslmax no idea how to sort the ping thought it was slightly slower on fibre anyway

Tam using cable and switch off wireless on laptop when doing a speed test

Latest results tonight old desktop machine thought i would try another computer to see if it made a differance

so on the 3rd test am getting the sort of result I would expect

have uploaded a pdf of some of my previous results from the end of last year tend to only do one once a month or so so you can see the results i normally get which are quite consistent up until now previous results

Do a speed rest, then check the gateway as I suggested, then close the PPP session for 5 minutes and reconnect. See if the gateway has changed and how a speed test looks then.

Ok did a speed test via pcl-ag07 1st test

Second test via ptw-ag04 2nd result

Hugely different results
Still not what I would expect which is both tests to give almost the same reading but much better.
Maybe it's a plusnet problem with congestion

also did this test on my old box using lubuntu to make sure it's not a windows thing

Seems to be all sorted now latest test
