alternative wireless routers for Plusnet fibre

Hi All,

Currently on PlusNet fibre, great service, but wondering if there are any better wireless routers out there I can use, instead of the one provided?

I use the openreach modem to get Infinity 2, and route the signal to the router plusnet provide, so wondering what upgrades/options you folk use or have suggestions for?

ASUS RT-N66U fed from the OR modem.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 58.7/14.6Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

What is make & model does Plusnet provided fibre router?

Current one is the Technicolor 582n, hence why people are questioning your parents order with a Netgear device which should only be an archive thing since they don't sell it any more.

PlusNet support if ever there is a problem would expect the router they supply which would make things easier on the parents if they have it just to swap back into the equation and see as the TG582N is free and you just pay £5.99 postage it is a no brainer really.

Why you were being asked to pay £40 for a router they no longer advertise is any ones guess.

It's possible adslmax caused a request of one, and charging for non-standard supply seems reasonable to me.

It works ok for me on my TalkTalk connection. Same here - only £4.99 for p&p. As stated earlier, it's a no brainer (even as a back up).
