Hi Linn, thanks for the offer but I have spoken to support this morning and they have set things in motion. It seems that for some reason the order for fibre had not been placed. The support person placed the order while I waited so all should now be moving.

One quick question folks, the FTTC Migration from BT Infinity to PlusNet is due to complete this week. Did anyone inform BT that the migration had occurred or did you rely on the fact that OR should tell the ISP?

They have to rely on Openreach as officially they don't know where it is being migrated from

As Oldjim says, but the notification can either fail, or be claimed to have failed frown.

Just like any migration, I recommend that once you are up and running you contact the old ISP (BT in this case) and confirm that you have left.

If your phone is still with them be careful. Even if it is going to be moved. The last thing you need is some idiot ceasing the line, so preventing the move order going through.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 56.6/14.1Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Thanks, I am moving the phone too. I'll contact BT and let them know when the migration completes, they should have no reason to cancel the line as my phone will still be with them at that point. PlusNet will not submit the phone move until the BB move is complete. That is assuming that they do not forget to submit the order like they did with the BB.

Re: FTTC migrations

I have been with Zen for years now, and recently migrated to Plus Net. Was on the 76Mb FTTC product at Zen, migrated to the same at Plus Net.

I ordered on 12th July (which was a Saturday, so I assume nothing much happened till the Monday).

I phoned Zen for my MAC code on the 14th, and it arrived by email on the 15th, and I added it to my order (on their web site) the same day.

On the 16th I had a text from Plus Net saying my broadband would switch on July 24th.

Just past midnight on July 23rd, my internet connection died. I assumed it had switched earlier than they said it would, tried new Plus Net credentials but with no joy. Gave up, went to bed, tried again in the morning and all was working fine.

I also got a text at 9am that morning saying it had gone through.

I know it is early days but it was pretty seamless to me (although the phone doesn't switch for a while yet).

One thing I would say is that a couple of times I've found myself looking for details about the switch and found myself getting confused by not being able to find emails about it, only to remember that they'd sent me texts instead.

The text thing is really good, but I think it'd be even better if the contents of text updates were also emailed as a matter of course.

I haven't switched broadband before, on this account was with Zen for seven years, and prior to that had been with one ISP until I moved house. I have to say, it's a pretty impressive, smooth, fast experience based on moving to PN.

Just past midnight, in the early hours of July 23rd. In other words this morning.
