I have absolutely no doubt Plusnet will follow in time. As will Sky, TalkTalk, and Virgin Media. They're a line rental cartel, they rinse as much as possible out of the line rental as that's the part they can put into the small print on the broadband ads.

Well the investment at head ends is great but no good if they don't fix issues and and degraded equipment and coaxial in the local areas and the money they give to customers to make a problem disappear without a fix could go towards replacing degraded coaxial loops and faulty and worn cabinets.
Until then issues will still plague the networks and customers connections.
That's where most of the money in existing networks is going. Upgrading the hubsites is relatively cheap. The local networks are the costly bit.

Coax? Surely that's only VM.

this is why I posted on plusnet's forums about ditching my line rental.
I have now got the large cashback and free install, the only gain left from it now is a bit cheaper broadband which is offset by a rapidly rising line rental.

I'm sure it considering they have been neglected for so long that a lot of the network would require complete replacement...
Also do you reckon they will keep in as Coax loop of cabs to a node or would they "maybe" upgrade coax loop to fibre.

AFAIK we are discussing VM, starting from the comment regarding 18 month contracts.
