Profile reset

Hi,

I have been having some disconnections in the past and I have nailed it down to a power socket on the wall.

The power socket is located behind the sofa and with the slightest movement it caused the modem to switch off. This caused the speeds to drop by 10mb and it used to usually recover within a week.

But this time the speed has not recovered and yesterday there were 2 disconnections even when there were nobody in the house. And this has caused the speeds to drop even further.

I have fixed the offending wall socket but I noticed that my speed has dropped ever further down to 45.8 Mb i.e a total of 30mb+ drop

Is there anything that plusnet can do?

If my speed doesn't get resolved I am off to VM atleast with their throttling the speeds are still faster than BT.

speed down to 50% of original speed and no response from plusnet.

36.8 Mb

You may just have to wait, if DLM has knocked your speed down it can take a couple of weeks to get it back up again. The only way to shortcut this is a DLM reset, which requires an engineer visit.

Surely not! No cabling involved; just someone clicks a box on a console back at base. It's a software thing; not hardware.

On FTTC it requires an engineer callout and they can request a DLM reset once they have fixed the cause.

Yes, that's a nonsense. But it is the case. So what's new, when it comes to BT Group procedures?

They may have nothing to fix but they will test the line to see what it is capable of, then "phone home" to get the reset done. Hopefully this madness will stop one day and the ISP will be able to request a reset, at least once before an engineer call-out.

Plusnet identified as a problem at the exchange but they didn't give me any details.

The BT engineer was supposed for fix the problem today but there has been no change to the speed whatsoever.

As there won't be until unless the DLM is reset or it sorts itself out, which can take a few weeks.

You mean he was expected to, or you have been told he has done?

There are plenty of scheduled jobs that slip.

Plusnet raise a fault with BT and the engineer was supposed to fix it yesterday.

I just got a couple months left on my contract and I might move back to VM.
