Young guy came to install FTTC. He changed the position of the master socket and did what he had to do. He went off to the cabinet to do some work, and came back a short time later. He asked me for the router I had been sent and connected it up to the new master socket.

He seemed unhappy so I asked if there was a problem. "The router won't sync". Says he. I'm not surprised says I, it needs a fibre modem. Oh he said and trotted off to his van. On his return and with everything synced he admitted that it was his first Plusnet install. He was unaware that he had to provide a modem, as Sky, BT, TT provide a combined modem and router.

My Kelly FTTC install went quite well(glad I had it before self installs), I also ended up with an ECI. Might be worth getting a cheap HG612 off eBay and unlocking for the stats, always useful when things go pear shaped.

Sync'ed at 75Mbps?

IP Profile from the BT Wholesale Test Further Diagnostics, multiplied by 1.033, gives you the sync within a few kbps.

In that case synced at 79.99552. IP Profile 77.44

Full 80Mbps. Nice .

The 1.033 is reverse working. IP Profile is ~ 0.9679 of sync.
