Routing...

Odd question, is there anything I can do regarding a bad route on Plus?

Meaning...
I often connect to a server in france.
My route goes through level3 to tata communications to the host.
In the evenings my speeds get atrocious.
I got somebody on BT to trace the route too, he doesnt go through level3 but ends up going through tata too and again, speeds are atrocious.

Somebody on virgin traces the route, goes through cogent to the host and no speed issues therefore it's obviously tata communications being the issue.

I'm guessing I'm left to put up with the route and there's nothing I can do about that at all?

You could try using a proxy - that may get a diffeent route. Of course it could well be very slow roo....

yes level 3 isn't the best peering choice for quite a few destinations, but no doubt they will have different SLA's depending on what the ISP is paying for,

I'm blaming tata rather than L3 as the BT fella didn't go through L3 but ended up on tata with the same low speeds. Ah well :|
