Can G.INP be disabled when connection is poor?

Hi,

I'm currently having some pretty bad connection issues, Openreach are 'investigating'. I've been told that there's a problem with a copper joint between my modem and the cabinet.

I just had a look at DSLstats and it's showing that G.INP is disabled. I know it's enabled on my cabinet because I experienced a jump in my speeds when I started using the G.INP enabled firmware on my HG612.

So is G.INP being disabled just a symptom of my poor connection or could something else explain it?

Further weirdness:

I've just plugged my ECI modem in and the BT speedtest shows:

Download = 48.82Mbps, Profile = 56.1Mbps
Upload = 12.98Mbps, Profile = 20Mbps

So does anyone know what might be happening? Has my HG612 bitten the dust? Glad I had a spare modem as if the engineer found that my 'modified' modem was the problem I might have been charged!

After 2 days my modem re-synced with G.INP enabled and my connection is back to what it was:
