Do Plusnet publish their routers' specs on their website, by the way?

Pretty much all Samsung phones from S4 and Apple phones from iPhone 5 will support 5 GHz, and all the iPads. The last two laptops I've had from work (going back to 2007/2008) supported 5Ghz and that was the office paying rock bottom.

Its actually been supported by more end user kit than routers for a while.

But even if the phones and laptops support 5 GHz, why do most people need WiFi that is faster then their broadband connection? It's only if there were doing large transfers on their LAN that it would be of any benefit.

5Ghz has less range. In my street and my friends, 2.4GHz is unusable for watching Netflix etc video streams in evenings as there is too much "wireless congestion" on _all_ the channels.

You are absolutely right, although wireless performance appears to be very questionable. I think the review would be helpful for those unsure about what router to get and want to make sure that their router performs adequately and in line with their requirements.

Some users are getting wireless issues, most of those seem to be where the wireless connection drops. The wireless speeds are not as bad as that review suggests. I can get 26Mbps @10m away (that's with a wall in the way).
