I'm wondering if this report may be something to do with it:
http://www.cerberusnetworks.co.uk/index.php/support-...
See the section on modem/router compatibility. I've asked AVM to confirm that the 7390 and 7490 are compatible and support the necessary reporting being required by BT, and that they are obtaining an approval.
I suspect unless Ofcom intervene (and why should they, their interest seems to be limited to the financial interests of the UK ISP industry), then we have to rely on the single market, well for at least as long as we're still a member of the EU. BT will do as they please as usual, irrespective of the law, if it saves them money on "wasted" maintenance. So AVM need to get worked up about this.
But sadly I think it makes it much less likely that a solution to the compatibility issue affecting the 7390 will be found. BT want to reduce the modems in use, not increase them. They have form, there.
