Same happened with ADSL2+ it was originally upto 24mb, and now it's upto 17mb. Was only a matter of time with fibre.

Nope, not at all related.

ADSL2+ connections are largely sold at lower "best case" speeds as a result of some Ofcom rules on advertising (the advertised up to has to be achievable in so many 5 of cases) and companies making regular broadband seem less attractive now than Fibre.

Fibre speed advertising has nothing to do with changes on wholesale - they're still offering the same products (and will add one soon), and it is still entirely possible to achieve full 80/20 sync (I still do, always have).

Don't be silly, it makes absolutely no difference as your IP profile is 77.35Mbps.

Not for the first time IIRC, you are mixing up allowed advertised throughput speeds with actual product sync speeds.
For the 80/20 product a 78Mbps Profile is correct if you are syncing at 79,999.
On the 40/20 product, it used to be that you'd only get a profile between 38 and 40Mbps if your sync speed is sufficiently high above 40Mbps. On 40/10 and 40/2 products I'm seeing evidence that the sync speed is limited to 40000kbps even if the line would go faster, so the max.profile will be 38Mbps.
Has it not occurred to you that perhaps Delta reports have eventually come through the system and automatically set your Current Line Speed to the correct value?

It does the use of Pn's profile and traffic management results in a 2mbps loss in throughput if you sync at the full rate, it's only those who have a 80mbps sync that this affects,more noticeably, my speed was less when with PN and the changing of their profile from 78mbps to 77.2 or 77.3mbps also impacted throughput further, they claim only a reduction of 200kbps, but in reality it's 2mbps ,than it is has been since moving to Zen

I thought the suggestion was that everyone lost 2Mbps, not just those who sync at the maximum? I don't think anything was ever proven anyway. The OP should count himself lucky that it's set at 78Mbps then, because I would have expected it to be 77.3.

No they don't. The IP Profile is rounded down to the nearest 200kbps to set the Current Line Speed (on FTTC and also FTTP IIRC - on ADSL it's to the nearest 100kbps). That is not a claim about any reduction in throughput speed. But the net effect of having a Current Line Speed and good traffic management on FTTC may well result in reductions in throughput speed of circa 2Mbps, however

Oh dear, I feel so sad for these people that lose 2Mbps throughput on an 80Mbps connection when there are poor individuals around on 20CN connections (even 21CN) who struggle to 2Mbps sync speed
In any case unless you are actually maxing out the connection all the time I wonder who would actually notice this in practise. If you had a house full of students then the connection could perhaps get maxed out, but I'd say that in those situations good traffic management would be essential to protect the real time applications otherwise everyone would be moaning.

I might be selfish person, but I don't want to lose 2Mb on the throughput speed if PN set the current line speed at 77.2 Mb as if it was set at 78 Mb I would get 73.5Meg throughput but if it was set at 77.2 Mb I would get around 72.5Meg throughput. Massive loss!

PN Current Line Speed: 80 Mb = throughput 75.5Mb
PN Current Line Speed: 78 Mb = throughput 73.5Mb
PN Current Line Speed: 77.2 Mb = throughput 72.5Mb

Sarcasm I hope. Tiny, inconsequential loss that would never be noticed in practice.

Would your browsing and emails appear on your monitor any quicker with an extra 2mbps?

At the end of the day they are shafting their customers those who can get the max available sync speeds loose the most
