I know everything google related resolves to Plusnet IP addresses because Plusnet run an edge(is that right?) server... but performance has been terrible recently. Right now, if I try to google anything, it takes perhaps 10 seconds before anything actually happens!
I has a quick investigation a few weeks back because of the same issue, and I saw it mentioned on the Plusnet forum, but it still seems to be an issue.
What's wrong with it?
Will it be fixed?

Really? Can you paste the result of "nslookup www.google.co.uk" ?

It's related to this: https://peering.google.com/#/
I'm unfamiliar with nslookup, and I'm getting dig to ask @ on of the Plusnet nameservers because I've already put www.google.co.uk in my hosts file out of exasperation:

Just tried it and the results were dislayed in around 2 seconds and that is with an up to 3Meg ADSL connection at 6.50pm, no problem here.

Interesting, thanks. The same query on BT points to Google IP addresses, and I'd prefer it to stay that way.

C:\Users\**>nslookup www.google.com
It makes more sense to query www.google.co.uk since most users will redirect there.
Oliver.

Yeah... I'm not entirely enthused by the idea of this! Not sure if it's for customer benefit or the ISPs really.
I actually connect to the intertubes from my desktop -> raspberry pi -> wifi -> plusnet/sagemcom 2704N, and the rasp-pi uses dnsmasq with one Plusnet, one Google and one OpenDNS server as the nameservers, *and* dnsmasq is configured to ask each of them to resolve simultaneously and return the first response so that I get nice fast DNS resolution. But all of those mentioned nameservers return Plusnet IP addresses. I *think* that's because the upstream Google DNS servers are resolving requests to Plusnet edge servers.... soooo... I guess that means Plusnet have an arrangement in place with Google that BT don't?

Gloater!
I've found this on the plusnet-community forum that sounds like it could be the same issue:
