Plusnet slowing down ?

I have, for the past first month, been happy with Plusnet.

On Speedtests it has been faster, both down and up, and had a faster ping than BT.

However, over the weekend, it slowed to an extent that we had trouble streamimg Netflix/Amazon, and general Web viewing was sluggish.

Generally 3 pcs online plus an Amazon fire box for Netflix/Prime.

Is this a punishment for data useage ? We managed circa 864GB down/up in the first month. God knows how....

I'll give them a ring in the morning. Speed test below.

Wired or wireless, in particular the speed test, and are you sure none of the other applications were running during the test?

If you've covered all that, when was the last time you rebooted the router? 24 days?

That was a wired test, just tested again , and speeds back up to full.....

Congestion ?

I could reboot the router easy enough if that helps....

This is a feature of there network since late 2014, when using the TBB tester the single thread test will always be significantly lower than the multi threaded during peek times.

The new network that came out of beta was suppose to fix it but it hasn't for some customers, myself included. Yet reports of this fall on deaf ears as the BT test will show nothing wrong

Ugh, you are much worse than me. I'm ringing Plusnet today. Last time i had such poor connectivity I was on dial up .

I monitor 4 connections on Plusnet for myself and friends and family. They all experienced a full disconnect on Sunday morning at the same time. Afterwards, my own connection and a family member's appears to have ran horribly through yesterday. Speedtesting last night through Speedtest.net yielded around 1.5MBs, though the BT Wholesale speedtest was giving close to full speed, with variance in latency.

I'm not sure exactly of the speeds that my friends and family were seeing last night, but I have had another friend ask if I noted any lower speed over the weekend.

Just to note, the horrific packet loss is obviously not normally there!

Can't say I've noticed any slowdowns of late. Given the difference in your tests I would log a fault. Reminds me of back in January, with the same sort of going ons on my line. OR couldn't find anything on the first visit and yet, just after an appointment had been made for a 2nd visit, and with nothing being supposedly done, the speeds started going back up. Been the same nigh on ever since.

It seems very rare these days though. They did some work on their network late last year and that seemed to put paid to the issue - although they themselves said they couldn't be sure they'd caught it all.

I saw it once in January this year but only the one time. Aside from that one instance since November my speed tests have always been fine regardless of when I run them.

You should raise it as a fault (and post to their forums) because as a regular contributor to the forums I'd pretty much assumed it was fixed ages ago.
