The usage metering is still deliberately disabled across a number of gateways for those on unlimited tariffs.Plusnet haven't found a solution yet to the packet loss on certain gateways when it has enabled accounting on said gateways.

The older issue of usage randomly stop/starting still exists. Hence 23prince's dads is now working while mine (and 1000's others) aren't. Two different issues.

Oh right, well I am hoping mine works so I can get an idea of what I use, will it literally be a lottery? "/

They want to cut down on price, they do not even mind going down to a lower speed now either, they only just about get over 60Mb/s anyway, so no great lost. they are paying almost £50 as well for Infinity 2, they have looked at the lower one, but still looking at £40 a month,. They used to have BTTV or what ever it is called these days, but they dumped that last year.

i did say about plusnet as to be honest It have been ok here and it is cheaper than BT, but adding the connection charge mean they will not save much for a while.

I said i will pop over in the week as I am off work this week and we can have a look to see what they want.

They'd be better off just waiting for the BT price rise email and phoning up saying they want to leave. When BT did the last rise I got them down to line rental + £10 for unlimited Infinity 1. Ironically the increase saved me money. They gave me an upgrade offer a couple of months back for Infinity 2 at line rental + £15. I presume that will be going up in line with the increases, so I'll be on the phone again.

This number got me straight through to retentions 0800 5877216 last time.

BT Infinity 2

Yes it will be a lottery as Plusnet haven't published which gateways are at issue.

I rebooted the router today to effect some settings changes and was put back onto the identical gateway (even down to the same gateway IP interface). Last year that would have changed so not only are dynamic IP sticky (issued at the exchange level now from a small local pool) but my static IP seems to be sticky to the gateway.

Well I called and cancelled after reading some more of the forums etc. Can't take the chance with the stats not working and it sounds to me that I would have to keep jumping gateways and then there i no guarantee it would work. Ironically I got through to the customer options team within 30 seconds. However tech support was still 30 min wait time.

I think I made the right choice.

the combined pricing is defenitly better than what was going on.

But it shows once again the weakness of the regulators.

They should have regulated that line rental itself needs to be clearly labeled for what it is, not hidden and not merged into another product.
Instead they simply forbid companies from putting line rental in small print and that has led to them en masse abusing the new system by showing combined pricing again with the affect to hide the fact they adding £6+ markups to line rental.

Its as as if the regulators do it deliberate. smile

Well on AA 15GB in 3 days with my usual TV streaming and Youtube. So yes I believe 1TB will be enough. But time will tell!

Maybe you get more bytes per Gigabit on AA as well wink.
