how good is this as no telephone line is dead but broadband just working and waiting for bt to fix it

Are you asking a question or sharing something you already know about, not sure from your post?

Presumably one of the legs has broken. Broadband can work (albeit at a slower rate) on a single leg whereas phone requires both. Hopefully the engineer will find the break/disconnect, connect it back up and all will be well again.

A lot depends on how variable things are, and the ookla system figures may mask this, the graphs from the test at http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest may give a better idea of how the connection is performing

Clearly if one leg is disconnected any functioning broadband is a bonus.

Why are you getting a Speedtest for BT Infinity when you are on PLusnet? Were you on someone else's wireless at the time?

I used to get BT Global Services on Infinity 2. That's really odd

Did you get a description of the fault from the engineer who fixed it ?

Probably because BT have moved some IP address ranges over to Plusnet, and Speedtest.net hasn't updated - but Thinkbroadband has.

IPv4 blocks are moving all the time as they have run out - expect to see more of this until we all get IPv6.
