cap on Plusnet speeds?

I am currently with BT on Fibre 2, syncing at 74.94/12.89.
I am considering moving (back) to PlusNet Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband.

My assumption was that the line connection details would remain the same,
and typically the speeds would be pretty much the same with some differences because of load, backhaul etc.

BT inform me that PlusNet lines are capped at 66Mbps on that package.
I think that this is not true. Can anyone confirm that, please?

This means you can get our Unlimited Fibre Extra Broadband with an estimated download speed of 45 - 66Mb, and an estimated upload speed of 11 - 17Mb.

Utter nonsense. Plusnet is just showing you the estimates from the BT Wholesale checker, which you are already exceeding, therefore it is highly likely you will continue to exceed them.

P.S. I am exceeding 66Mbps, as you can see below!

Thank you for the confirmation. I was pretty sure it was rubbish (lies) but wanted to check.

Actually, even if it were 66Mbps it would be worth the loss in speed to me for the considerable price difference.

Plusnet do not cap lines to 66 Mbps.

The average speeds are primarily influenced by the quality and length of the copper cables between the users modems and the fibre cabs.

However, you seem to have a low upload synch speed, 12.80, for a almost 75 Mbps download synch speed.
I am guessing but if you are on a Huawei cab and DLM has applied with G.INP applied & a 3 dB margin on the downstream, when you change ISP this will likely be reset.
At that point, on a default profile, (6 dB margin and no G.INP) your download synch speed will fall (my line falls from mid 70's Mbps synch to mid 50's Mbps synch).
It will take anywhere from a few weeks to recover the synch speed

You could also be unlucky and suffer a speed drop due to crosstalk from neighbouring lines when they take VDSL for the first time. This often reduces the synch speed.

Brilliant. BT own Plusnet and their advisors are telling porkies to put you off the Plusnet service.

I have completed just what you are thinking today, going from ex-infinity2 to Fibre Extra. When I called BT they did nothing to really try and make me stay - just offering a £3pm discount so were nearly £20pm more expensive after discounts taken into account.

My BT SmartHub6 gave me a sync of around 79/20 but the Plusnet One (basically a HomeHub 5A) only gives me 68/20 so I have lost 10-12Mbps download sync just changing the router. Looking at the stats in the router, this appears to be about the fastest this router will sync.
I am going to fit my TP-Link Archer back in I think and will see what sync I get with that. Last time I used it, I got 80/20 (the cab is about 50m from my flat).

It seems that these days an FTTC migration, even like-to-like, triggers interleaving. That would account for the loss.

If you were on G.INP previously it should return in 3-4 days.

Out of curiosity how did BT "inform you"? Did you call them?

If you've just switched from BT to Plusnet, your line will have been reset. This happens on a migration.

In my own case, and in that of my parents, this reset was good news, as it started the DLM from scratch, which was now able to utilise the improvements of G.INP and the 3db target margin, and hold much higher speeds comfortably.

You may have to hold fire for some time (I have no idea if this is a fixed time period) before the DLM system returns you to the speeds you had on BT. It would be easier to tell if the PlusNet and BT routers gave better line technical information.
