Line rental refund :: Plusnet

[link to this post]

My 18 month contract with Plusnet is coming to an end soon and I may decide not to renew.
I have paid 12 months upfront Line saver rental recently with about six months outstanding.
Will I be entitled to a partial Line Saver rental refund if I leave at the end of my current contract? The Plusnet website suggests not, but other sites suggest that unused line rental paid up front is refundable - I am confused - Has anyone experience of this?

No, LRS is upfront and will last for 12 months. So, after 6 months once your 18 months contract is ended, you will lose 6 months of LRS, as it non-refundable as it happen to me before. You will stuck for another 6 months before u can leave or u will lose 6 months worth of line rental saver.

Thanks adslmax, this is what I feared, so it is a bit of a trap.

Does one have to be careful in timing the exit date relative to the end contract date? e.g. is it OK to switch out a number of days before the end date? They will add an extra sting by doubling my monthly rate if I stay on after my contract. I will make sure my next provider package is including line rental.

U can explain your LRS to PN only got 6 months left and they might offer discount on your fibre for 18 months, that's what they did to me as a goodwill gesture then after 6 months you can get another 12 months LRS to finished it off at the same time with 18 months contract expiry date.

PN won't do fibre discount offer for six months in a six months contract. frown

I was in this position last time my contract was due for renewal, so when my LRS expired the last time, I decided not to renew it,so that I have the option to leave without losing money if Plusnet won't do me a good deal from September.

It was not as painful as I thought it might be.
I re-extended the contract with Plusnet for 18 months, the next 12 month Line Rental renewal will bring me back in line for next time.
Managed to get a further 99p reduction on my current fibre broadband rate, so I am a happy bunny for now.

Can I ask what you are paying? Did you quote any other provider offers when negotiating your new deal? My deal ends on 21 September so I intend to give them a call soon.
