Goodbye Plusnet

[link to this post]

Within next 12-17 hours to go will be no longer with Plusnet FTTC with line only since 2014. Very sad to leave but got the right decision and time to move on with new ISP tomorrow - look forward to G.fast 160/30.

Got SMS text from engineer to say site visit to install broadband and phone line tomorrow between 8am and 1pm.

Wish me best of luck smile

You may need luck, G.fast can be a bit iffy, you need to be pretty close to the cabinet and even then it can be hit and miss.

Why are you sad to leave plusnet? They belong to a massive company, I am sure they will survive. When/if i leave plusnet I will not be sad, I was a bit sad to leave Allpay wireless broadband when I left them as they were a local company.

I have not noticed reports of GFast being iffy or hit and miss from users on the forum.

How do you know it is 180m from cabinet as you are not connected.

cos my next door neighbour told me they got G.fast nearly 290/48 on their line. As engineer told them their line is 180m from the cab.

Just because they are connected to that cabinet does not mean you will be.

Their connection to the cabinet are the same cab as mine. So I should be easy getting 160/30 no problem. I just know it. I only walk a minute away from my G.fast pod.

BTw estimated my line for G.fast are

G.fast Range A (Clean) 282.9 203.6 44.1 21.3 179.8 Amber Amber
G.fast Range B (Impacted) 237.6 173.8 31.1 15.4 157.8 Amber Amber

You do not know which cabinet you will be connected to ... so another of your fairy stories.

But then you already have a line, or do you? You are having it installed tomorrow, or are you?
