Hi,

Replaced my HH6 with the above and I got a choice of annex A or B in line settings, which one do I need to use for Plusnet?

Annexe A. The only thing I had to add was under Internet/Account Information/ tick "Use VLAN for internet access" and enter "101"

Are you sure?

AIUI Openreach GEA FTTC uses Annex B.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro, 4G max 165Mbps down, 24Mbps up on Three Mobile, and B311 4G router, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

If the Fritzbox 7530 is stated to be for UK then it should be ANNEX A that will work in UK,, but given that both A and B are available I guess it is a general model for Europe (or almost around the world) and that is a little bit tricky.

For Germany and few other countries they use ANNEX B (DSL over ISDN) which is not used in UK and most of Europe uses ANNEX A (DSL over PSTN) and I bet that the DSL connector in the router is RJ45 so it will accept RJ11 (PSTN and ISDN)

For UK it uses ANNEX A (DSL over PSTN) that is 100% but some router brands report it as annex b but both routers that report annex a or b are still falling under the ANNEX A (DSL over PSTN).

It's a Zen provided router, selected B as that's what I read on net and works 😕😕
Synch speed is same as A,don't sure what difference it will make in actual use but would prefer to use the right one.

It's confusing. It depends which Annex from which specification.

The UK uses PSTN, which is physical infrastructure Annex A. Similar to North America.
Germany uses ISDN, which is physical infrastructure Annex B.

Then OpenReach use a VDSL2 Annex B Bandplan.

So OpenReach use Annex A infrastructure with a VDSL2 Annex B Bandplan.

Broadcom modems reports the bandplan in the stats (Annex B).

Most other modems report the physical Annex (A).

Tripe. PSTN is not necessary for FTTC. Merely a copper connection/carrier (SOGEA). No phone service is needed.

ADSLx in the UK is Annex A. Openreach VDSL2 is Annex B by default, but apparently (according to one source) OR have also made it work on Annex A. Users should preferably choose Annex B, as shown by any routers that are configured using TR-069 from ISPs.

Edit: From SIN 498 September 2020:
R.VDSL2.5 The modem shall support 17MHz operation using band plan B8-11 (i.e. plan 998ADE17) as defined in Annex B of G.993.2
...
A.4.2.5.4 Support of CPE statistics (R.OAM.5)
–Description – The modem must support the statistics defined in IEEE 802.3.1-2013 Annex B detailed in Table 4.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro, 4G max 165Mbps down, 24Mbps up on Three Mobile, and B311 4G router, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.
