UK uses ANNEX A (DSL over PSTN aka. Public Switched Telephone Network)
Tripe. PSTN is not necessary for FTTC. Merely a copper connection/carrier (SOGEA). No phone service is needed.

It isn't tripe at all.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.992.3

Annex version Spec Description
A xDSL over POTS xDSL service functioning over plain old telephone service.
B xDSL over ISDN xDSL Services running over Integrated Services Digital Network.

Hardware level Annex B modems will NOT work in the UK on VDSL2.
They tend to have RJ45 dsl ports. They do not sync.

The UK uses Annex A, with a VDSL2 Annex B bandplan.

Different Annex from different specs.
Hardware Annex A, with a software Annex B (the bandplan).

As you can see, I'm using a 7530 to connect to my PN account. It works and holds my connection far more reliably on my troublesome 730 metre ancient line than my PN HubOne did. I sometimes manage several days uptime at a stretch wink

plusnet FTTC 55/10
Using a Fritz!Box 7530
