ADSL2+ with Mid ?

[link to this post]

I am considering switching to Sky's upto 8MB package. When I test what my potential speed would be (via DSLzoneUK) based on my SNR and Attenuation I get approximate speeds between

3.5 - 4.3 Mbps via ADSL Max

8 - 12 Mbps via ADSL2+

Would I automaticlly be on adsl2+ if I signed up for their upto 8mb product? Just wanted to ask as I don't have much faith with what Sky sales says.

MID is upto 8Mb, ADSL1 is upto 8Mb - why would they want to put you on ADSL2+. I went for the MAX option so potentially upto 16Mb. I was put on ADSL1. I eventually got it changed to ADSL2+ but it made absolutely no difference at all.

I don't know much about the technical side of things , I just thought ADSL2+ was the latest technologhy and they would put new customers onto that and then cap the speed to 8mb.
With ADSL1 the best I can get is about 4Mb but if I was on ADSL2+ I could get upto the full 8Mb.

Anyway, I just wanted an Idea of what kind of speed I am likley to get .

As I said I managed to get put onto ADSL2+ - didn't make jot of difference in my case. As you've gone for MID you will be capped to 8Mb down even if you can get more.

My stats are quite low at the moment (can get up to 6000 when the wind is in the right direction )

Sync Down: 4052 Up: 764
SNM Down: 8.1 Up 11.0
Attenuation Down: 53.0 Up: 29.8
