You should wait till training finishes

You may be lucky enough to get the new N router from Sky which appears to be rolling out now.
If not lets hope its one of the routers you can extract username/password from.

do you have any info about these routers - just curious about make/model is it gigabit ports or still 100 meg ones?
|
|

It's a sagecom F@ST3304N or 2304N router
4 ports but sadly no gigabit it seems.

i dont understand why gigabit is not standard on routers or at least anything but the cheapest of the cheap
i like many people use the router as more than just a plug socket to the internet, and i dont see the point in having extra hardware in my setup just to get gigabit between my PC's, media centre etc

I agree with this what's the point in having 300meg speed on wifi which in my view never ever goes anything near that speed but not including gbit Ethernet which always preforms well.

I thought recent Sky routers were the cheapest of the cheap
Apparently the new Sky sagem "N" router isn't to the full N spec, so it won't do 300meg.

Well, why wouldnt they use cheap ones. I mean if you dont like it you can just use your own..... Oh wait, no you cant...
Maybe we should question their 'worth £50' statement.

Though I cant seem to find if there is any way to get the password from the 2304N yet..
Apparently, you can use the skypass generator site, and select the old sagem model.

Ooh, didnt know they'd started rolling out N routers, just ordered as well so have to see if I get one. Still rather use my current router though, hope I get one I can extract the details from.
If your looking for login details check out: https://www.cm9.net/skypass/
This will give you your username and password for Sky you just need to put in the MAC and the default WPA password on the bottom of the router Sky sends you.
I found this on http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/asking-help/8543-non-...

Thanks for this. I wasnt sure as I have the 2304N, but somebody mentioned elsewhere that the 2504 link on that site also works for it. Just waiting for my 10 days to be up then I'm gonna give it a try.

I put the details in from my 2304N and it worked fine. There's no problem getting the login info early which is what i did. I'm going to wait for the 10days to be up as well.

Yep it gives a result, but its whether that result will work. As far as I can tell you can type any [censored] in there and it will come back with something, but we'll have to wait and see if the result actually works for the new model.
|
|
|
There's a poster here that says it does work.
If you haven't changed your sky router's default WPA network key yet, I'd suggest using copy and paste to copy the wpa key and the LAN port MAC address from the sky router's web interface to the skypass generator, and to copy the results to your non-sky router, so you can at least be sure that if it doesn't work, its not caused by a typo, or mistaking a 1 for an I or something like that.

Just had a phone call off virgin media to confirm my number port to sky phone on the 11/4 and they were giving me some right [censored] to try to make me stay with them saying that sky will only allow me to download 40 gig a month and ill oni get 5 meg coz they use BT and all this i said for 1 im going onto sky LLU and can get upto 12meg (bassed a few people i no on the street) and 2 sky LLU is unlimited with no restrictions on it unlike your other packages she just said oh right oh in that case we wish you all the best with sky and if you ever do want to come back just give us a call and we can egt you set back up i was like right ok cheers bye lol you've really got to admire the [censored] they tell people to try scare them into staying lol.

They are having problems supplying routers I'm not sure mine will arrive before my broadband activation date.

Hope they sort it out for next week. Mines due for activation on Tuesday, with all the long weekends coming up I'd like my broadband up and running.

2 things with sky that seem pretty much pointless to me, after being connected to the Easynet network myself for several years,
1 why they use/run DLM on their LLU connections
2,Why they are insistent on customers using the sky supplied router and refuse to give the customer the credentials needed to authenticate a ppoa session
Apart from the fact the support isn't too good and the size of the customer base i cannot see any other reason for the 2 above policies that sky have and are 2 reasons of many for me not to go sky,
if it were me with no supplied router and a active sky dsl connection, i would get another router generate some credentials from the site mentioned earlier and if successful use that and say diddly squat to sky about it, and then if the sky router they send is a pile of junk, either continue using the same router of go out and buy a better one

I have a sky router router here that i used as a back up so will plugging that in to see if it works if nothing arrives by Monday.Ive been on their forum and an assistant checked the order for me to get it moving along.Im just off the phone to Sky as well who said the router is waiting to be picked up by RM.We shall see if it arrives or not.

Doesnt look i will be recieving a router anytime soon. They either have a shortage of routers or are way behind on connecting up the cables at the exchange. So far ive been told i will recieve it within 3-5 days days then on the phone to them it will be sent today for next day delivery. Then again on their forum there is a backlog and it will arrive between 5-7 days !!!
