You may be lucky enough to get the new N router from Sky which appears to be rolling out now.
If not lets hope its one of the routers you can extract username/password from.

It's a sagecom F@ST3304N or 2304N router
4 ports but sadly no gigabit it seems.

i dont understand why gigabit is not standard on routers or at least anything but the cheapest of the cheap

i like many people use the router as more than just a plug socket to the internet, and i dont see the point in having extra hardware in my setup just to get gigabit between my PC's, media centre etc

I agree with this what's the point in having 300meg speed on wifi which in my view never ever goes anything near that speed but not including gbit Ethernet which always preforms well.

I thought recent Sky routers were the cheapest of the cheap smile

Apparently the new Sky sagem "N" router isn't to the full N spec, so it won't do 300meg.

Well, why wouldnt they use cheap ones. I mean if you dont like it you can just use your own..... Oh wait, no you cant...

Maybe we should question their 'worth £50' statement. smile

If your looking for login details check out: https://www.cm9.net/skypass/
This will give you your username and password for Sky you just need to put in the MAC and the default WPA password on the bottom of the router Sky sends you.

Yep it gives a result, but its whether that result will work. As far as I can tell you can type any [censored] in there and it will come back with something, but we'll have to wait and see if the result actually works for the new model.

There's a poster here that says it does work.

If you haven't changed your sky router's default WPA network key yet, I'd suggest using copy and paste to copy the wpa key and the LAN port MAC address from the sky router's web interface to the skypass generator, and to copy the results to your non-sky router, so you can at least be sure that if it doesn't work, its not caused by a typo, or mistaking a 1 for an I or something like that.

2 things with sky that seem pretty much pointless to me, after being connected to the Easynet network myself for several years,
1 why they use/run DLM on their LLU connections
2,Why they are insistent on customers using the sky supplied router and refuse to give the customer the credentials needed to authenticate a ppoa session

Apart from the fact the support isn't too good and the size of the customer base i cannot see any other reason for the 2 above policies that sky have and are 2 reasons of many for me not to go sky,

if it were me with no supplied router and a active sky dsl connection, i would get another router generate some credentials from the site mentioned earlier and if successful use that and say diddly squat to sky about it, and then if the sky router they send is a pile of junk, either continue using the same router of go out and buy a better one

Doesnt look i will be recieving a router anytime soon. They either have a shortage of routers or are way behind on connecting up the cables at the exchange. So far ive been told i will recieve it within 3-5 days days then on the phone to them it will be sent today for next day delivery. Then again on their forum there is a backlog and it will arrive between 5-7 days !!!
