I know it's against Sky's T&C about using your own router but I've had enough of the shocking piece of junk they supplied.
I am on Sky Fibre Pro and i'm FTTC - ECI
The Modem I'm considering is the Draytek 130 with a ASUS RT-AC68U Wireless Cable & Fibre Router.
Is this a good choice or is there something else I should consider?
Many thanks in advance.

I'm using a Vigor 130 hooked into a Vigor 2925. Prior to the 130 I was using a HG612 as my VDSL modem. Before the 2925 I was using a 2820 (again with no issues, apart from being maxed out)
The 130 can't be used directly out of the box (least not in my experience)
I wrote this post a while back, which might help you:

That's a good choice as both the Draytek and Asus are highly rated. However if you can increase your router budget by a tenner or so, then I'd highly recommend the Asus AC-87U as that is Asus' cheapest Mu-Mimo router and you'll find it even better than the AC68 for wifi coverage. Obviously you will need to use Merlin's AsusWRT firmware in order to make it work with Sky.

I am on eci cab with sky fibre. Having tried loads of different modems and modem/routers combined. My best results and what I use currently is a zyxel vmg8324 in bridge mode with an asus rt-ac87u running merlin for sky authentication. Works a treat and I can upload stats from the zyxel.
Have tried tplink, netgear modem/router,sr102,8800nl(bridge mode),hg612 unlocked, eci openreach modem unlocked. All sync lower than the 8324 even when going for the peak snrm level on the ds.

Hi, do you get both IPV4 and IPV6 addresses in that config?

According to test-ipv6.com...
I have a static IpV4 which is displayed correctly
my isp dns server appears to have no access to the ipv6 internet or is not configured.
I appear to have ipv6 public address which is displayed.
Ipv6 services appear to be :teredo.
I currently have a static address from sky as I use the vpn functions on the merlin build on the asus which seems to be fine when I away.
Cheers

How do you get a static IP from sky? Or maybe more to the point, how much does that cost?
I use a no-ip.org and let my 2925 handle the updates when it changes WAN IPs. Works fine for my dial in and site-to-site VPNs.

Fibre pro will allow one free address. You still set your end to dynamic ip but sky just keep you on the same address on their dhcp server etc. When they switched me over to the static allocation I had to reboot my router to let it logon again but that was all and job done

Whilst you do still need to send the DHCP option 61 (You won't get an IP without sending it) it appears thesedays they don't actually check the content of it anymore.
If your router needs to provide it in hex use an asci to hex convertor and you may need to prefix 0x to it (You do on RouterOS for instance)
