Warning: Two major issues encountered with SKY

[link to this post]

I've had my 2nd line with SKY for some time now with no problems I didn't trust them with my primary. This is a far cry from the problems my friend has experienced since migrating to them at the end of January. The migration went smoothly and he was activated on time. Two weeks later his connection died altogether and he spent an hour on the phone to SKY trudging through their basic checks. Tech support were left scratching their heads and he was promised a call back which never came. In the meantime he checked the order tracker for his line and found out that there was an entry for "CEASE LLU LINE SHARE PSTN" which was completed on the day the connection died. Pretty straightforward to see what the problem is? Not if you work for SKY's tech support. He spent another few hours on the telephone to them trying desperately to explain that he already knew what the problem was. Eventually someone at SKY agreed with him and they passed the matter over to the "service recovery team" who for some reason do not have any incoming lines. It's over one month later and he is still waiting for a call back from them. He's tried calling for an update several times only to be told it's impossible to get through to the "service recovery team" internally or externally.

Meanwhile....he realised that he was still being billed by his previous ISP and called them to find out why, after speaking to someone there he was told that SKY did not use the MAC number (which he definitely provided). Is this even possible because his SKY line was actually active for a week or so?

The bottom line is, he's owed two payments from his previous ISP who are blaming SKY, whilst SKY are blaming his previous ISP. And he has had no connection for almost two months. Good show.

Yep.. I too have had the problem with Sky not using Mac codes from old providers.

I was previously with Nildram, when Sky took over, I had a few issues, once that was sorted I noticed an email from Nildram saying I was being billed for the full month, so I went onto the phone and they confirmed it, that Sky had not informed them or BT that my connection was now with them. I therefore have sent a couple of emails and phone calls to Nildram, who have just insisted that BT will not disconnect the Nildram service without a copy of the connection confirmation letter from Sky... I've scanned it and emailed it, and I am still waiting for a response from them.. if its not early tomorrow then its time for a nasty phone call again!
