PS3 Gaming

[link to this post]

I am considering moving to Sky, I suspect they can't do worse than our typical evening speed connections of 0.4Mbps (at the fastest!). However my hubby does a lot of PS3 online gaming (including hosting games with some games). Does anybody do this with Sky? If you do how is it? We are looking at the unlimited service

Also anybody on the Fordingbridge exchange and know what it is like?

Thanks

My son uses Xbox Live and no complaints which from a teenager says a lot.
He hosts games also, pings average 35 i think he says.
His connection is wired

If you or your husband can post details of your current connection (router details) then we can give you an idea of what connection speed you may get with Sky.

In addition to the above, have you checked via Sky's website to see if it's own unbundled (Sky Unlimited/Lite) is available on your exchange?

As your exchange is in the LLU network, I'm pretty sure from what others have said about Sky that you'll be fine.

Thanks all. Yes our exchange is unbundled and we are looking at the Unlimited package. I was mainly concerned because a friends pings were so high on the speed tests he sent me.

Given that we are currently on BT hardware, wouldn't moving to LLU hardware make the stats meaingless?

Could he of been on their 'Connect' package? That runs on a different network to what the other packages are on and is rewound for being rubbish

He is on the LLU hardware and he is quite happy with it for what he is doing, as he downloads a lot but doesn't play games. He is getting between 13-11Mbps downloads which I certainly wouldn't call rubbish, especially as I am moving away from Talk Talk as I am getting 0.1-0.4 Mbps. on evenings
