Using Sky when I move

I am currently using Sky broadband, but broadband only, no phone line. I have been happy with the service for the last year, so when we move onto the Sandy (SMSA) exchange, would like to continue using them. Problem is, I don't really want to take the Sky line rental (eggs in one basket and all) but know we will have to. I will be sticking with the LLU as the expected 14- 18mb is much better than the 2mb currently received and I can't see the point of paying more money for fibre when I will have a perfectly acceptable speed.

I guess what I am looking for is reassurance that going Sky all the way won't cause me too many problems, but will it mean that it will cost money to move the phone back to BT at a later date? I assume it will also make it difficult to switch isp's at a later date as it will be full LLU as opposed to the partial LLU I have currently?

You have answered yourself with regards to migrating away though in my experience with SKY full LLU, for the last 9months I have been with them, it has been very good and I wish had done it sooner.

Dont forget you can get cashback if you do get the line rental as an existing customer, try topcashback, I "should" get £80 for switching to sky Talk and taking out Fibre, I also got £25 M&S voucher

Just to reassure you, I've been full Sky LLU on the SMSA exchange for over 10 months, no issues so far, no slow downs that I've noticed.

Only downside is that despite BT Infinity (along with the usual Plusnet and Talk Talk variants) being available, Sky Fibre isn't as they are currently unable to install a required piece of kit (so Sky tell me) and they can't/won't give any timescale as to when it will

Had full LLU off Sky for 7 months and had a fault back in July, reported it via my other line and usual questions and was actually fixed with no need for engineer to arrive.

They did a remote test which showed fault was not in property, and as I'd checked sockets and different phone they fixed it all, and first I knew about it working was an SMS to say fault was cleared.

A good bonus of sky is that they very rarely charge for an engineer visit during faults

BT try and catch you out wherever and whenever they can. Eg I got billed with BT as I was using an extension socket when the engineer arrived. This was DESPITE it also not working in the master & the fault was on my outside wall on the drop cable.

Sky this would never happen (and didn't on a visit by them). Overall very happy

I've just received an email from CS that says, because I am an existing customer of Sky broadband from before a phone line was required, I can have just my broadband activated at the new address, no need to go full LLU

I suppose, I could get my Wife to sign up for the new services to get some of the incentives that have been offered (through the likes of Quidco), as she has never been a customer!!

You're probably paying a £5 addition for this "benefit" so it might not be such as good deal.
