Wifi repeater

I need a Wi-Fi repeater to increase the consistency of my Wi-Fi signal upstairs in my house. will this work to extend the range of my router? And if so, by how far?

You have (at least) 3 options:

1. Run ethernet cable from the Sky router to a new wireless access point which can be up to 100metres away

2. Buy a couple of power-line adapters (PLA) to extend the signal over your mains wiring

3. Buy a wireless extender and site it where it can get a signal from your Sky router and this will extend the signal onwards from that point.

How far wireless travels depends on the material it's passing through - it won't travel through a brick wall but it should travel through windows and doors, ceilings and floors.
