Re: What can I really expect ? ever 1000 ? 900+ 940+ ???

[re: einsteinagogo] [link to this post]

so before I started thinking of updating the firmware on the USG and causing a world of pain!

Connected direct the ONT using PPPoE from several workstations (5) and testing and the results are all similar

My Broadband Speed Test

So I think we can rule out any of the network, LAN, hardware, Unifi, USG Pro 4 etc and maybe this is a SR to Zen Support and see what they can see, maybe I need a new ONT or something as this was one of the very first FTTP circuits to role out!

My Broadband Speed Test

ANy other ideas I can try let me know. Posting a support request to Zen. I will follow up as to why!

Your single thread and x6 speed tests are quite close, this usually means things are not congested.

So I would suggest checking the following:

Check BT Wholesale to see what maximum speed you should get https://www.broadbandchecker.btwholesale.com/#/ADSL/... does it say 1000 is available? Some areas run on older ECI kit which maxes out at 330Meg and the wholesale checker will tell you this. Given you say the ONT is very old, it might be you are on older kit that can do no more than around 300Meg. If this is the case you need to speak to Zen to get a cheaper package, no point paying for something you can't get.

Otherwise try a speed test at nperf.com as a comparison.

I think you may have hit the nail on the head. as the op is doing 300mbits/110mbits.

this threadmay suggest otherwise

You need to escalate this to Zen now. If you are getting consistent results from speedtests all showing a connection of nothing more than around 290Mbps suggests a problem they need to sort out.

If the BT checker is showing 1Gig is available, that is why you've been able to order it, but it might be that data is wrong and you are on ECI kit, a picture of your ONT might identify it as ECI. It could also be Zen haven't configured your service correctly and they need to change something their end.

Edit, you can identify the type of ONT by comparing to this list:

It has been escalated to Zen now, we've reset the ONT to factory defaults, restarted ONT and Router, powered off Router and ONT for thirty seconds.

Same result.

Zen have removed the profile and re-added the profile, the same results.

the picture of the ONT installed in 2018 is here

My ONT

Sorry I didn't see your link it's a Huawei 1-port modem

Thanks for your assistance, Openreach Engineer booked.
