Statement of Requirements

[link to this post]

As always the AAISP blog proves a very interesting read and especially the last few posts regarding their "Statement of Requirements".

Whilst I really do hope that their requests are implemented I am curious as to just how likely they are taken seriously by BT and acted upon? How have BT responded to SoRs in the past and is their attitude likely to have changed given the growth of the wholesale LLU market?

I've not been with AAISP for long, so I'm no expert on how they operate. I don't think AAISP have any more powers than any other ISP - I think the difference is that they apply themselves more vigourously to the problem in hand. For example, I have an intermittent problem on my line which has been going on for a couple of months. My previous ISP went through the motions with BT, but they stuck to a rigid set of rules, which resulted in a series of 2-hour appointments that didn't achieve much at all. In the end I got so exasperated with the lack of action, that I emailed the CEO of BT, who got some senior Openreach people on the case. This could have been a heck of a lot more effective than it turned out to be, because my old ISP would not talk directly to my new contacts at BT. In the end, I migrated to A & A - this happened last week. Already I have noticed that AAISP are far more pro-active with BT, and although they stick by the book with BT procedures, they are also willing to step outside the box and go the extra mile, and they are interacting with my BT contacts to try to get the problem resolved - in fact, I have some BTW high level escalation people visiting my premises today, just 5 days after migration.

Someone posted this and this, which made me laugh. For anyone not familiar with A&A's control pages, you need to start at the bottom of the page and read up.

That has gotta be the funniest thing I've read in ages...
"[Shaun Kemp] was basically his rude self throughout the call".

Odd, I've spoken to him load about my p**s poor BT line he sorted and he was nothing but friendly and professional throughout.

The sad truth is that BT will tell the customer anything to avoid spending money. At the moment I have an ongoing problem with my line, and the latest from BT is that the cable in my road has a fault, but they will only repair it if it is economically viable. Very strange considering that a BTO Team Leader told me that the cable had already been replaced three weeks ago.

BT currently have a bug where they can't tell if you've been kicked off and will leave lines hanging around doing nothing.. the Kill BT button tells them directly to drop the session. It's also very theraputic to stab it when 21cn breaks again.

The kill LNS is the standard 'drop the line and try again' button that's been there all along (called 'kill').

LOL classic.

BTw seems to be run by drones who have a very limited script, cash cow SFI or clear fault.
