Before moving my FTTC I need to consider change line rental. At present I'm on BT with Anytime. Whoever I choose I will need to continue to be on an Anytime package (01/02/03 calls only - don't need mobile or international).
Suggestions please. Pulse8 have been suggested elsewhere but they don't have an Anytime option. I was looking at the Post Office - are there any issues with having line rental with them and a BTw based FTTC connection?

Shouldn't be an issue - I've got my line with Zen and ADSL broadband from A & A.
Zen might be worth considering for you? They have an inclusive package, plus don't have a call setup charge, which can make a big difference.

Are you sure you need Anytime? I see BT is now £7.50pm. That 750 minutes of daytime use with Pulse8, with E & W 0.8ppm instead of 1ppm. Billed by the second not by the minute.

After over 40 years as a BT customer for line rental I recently moved to PO and pay £15 per month and it works ok. I've got a good mobile deal so only want the line for BB but I've got my ADSL with Timico.
I'm on a month contract so can leave anytime which is a bonus.
The PO Anytime call package is £5.75/m so cheaper than BT.
I have phoned them a few times and the phone is answered quickly by friendly people who know the answers.
It's not an overseas call centre so I recommend them.
There is a current offer of 3 months free rental with any call package which is worth £45

Used to be with them for broadband both pre/post BT buyout and PN's mentoring

Looks like the new PN CEO has struck again, sadly I guess the writing was on the wall as the maaf products were never updated after PN took over.

Been with the PO for phone for years now and it just works, I want to change but no other will give me FREE mobile calls at weekends, even Post Office don't do it now

Do you really need a call package on the phone line?
You could use A&A VOIP and take advantage of their pretty cheap no-calls line rental

I looked at that but decided WLR3 with Pulse8 was a lot less fuss at £13 basic rental including 1571. Add caller display for £1pm. Plus it works during a power cut if I stick my corded phone in that I use for diagnostics.
Vivaciti is only £11.40 but I haven't checked what is included. Aquiss about the same. Uno supposed to be coming in even lower.

If they stick to these prices when the service goes live then it seems to be quite competitive for basic LR (SOHO package) with no add-ons or call charges taken into account.

Just analysed my recent BT bills and you are right. On Pulse8 I'd average around £3 per month on calls.

To me, having been on BT for phone ever since I started paying for a phone service in 1968, it was a no-brainer. The "insurance premium" cost to obtain the excellent BT Consumer service when a phone fault occurs became ridiculous.
It's only recently of course that these low-margin providers on WLR3 have emerged. Zen was an early one, but seem to have dropped it now. Before those the difference was not large.
It even made sense if staying with Plusnet for broadband.

One niggle is that they seem to be the only ones to actually charge from a free service the automatic number withhold feature, Also do they do ex directory FREE

I have a feeling uno prices are "plus Vat" as well, but unsure.
