Re: Which phone rental

I looked at that but decided WLR3 with Pulse8 was a lot less fuss at £13 basic rental including 1571. Add caller display for £1pm. Plus it works during a power cut if I stick my corded phone in that I use for diagnostics.

Vivaciti is only £11.40 but I haven't checked what is included. Aquiss about the same. Uno supposed to be coming in even lower.

If they stick to these prices when the service goes live then it seems to be quite competitive for basic LR (SOHO package) with no add-ons or call charges taken into account.

Just analysed my recent BT bills and you are right. On Pulse8 I'd average around £3 per month on calls.

To me, having been on BT for phone ever since I started paying for a phone service in 1968, it was a no-brainer. The "insurance premium" cost to obtain the excellent BT Consumer service when a phone fault occurs became ridiculous.

It's only recently of course that these low-margin providers on WLR3 have emerged. Zen was an early one, but seem to have dropped it now. Before those the difference was not large.

It even made sense if staying with Plusnet for broadband.

One niggle is that they seem to be the only ones to actually charge from a free service the automatic number withhold feature, Also do they do ex directory FREE

I have a feeling uno prices are "plus Vat" as well, but unsure.
