please could you tell me how many Be* enabled exchanges there are ? Not the combined o2/Be* figure frown

it seems to me that something is going badly wrong with the 20CN package and the alteration in peak/off peak and in light of the following

http://aaisp.blogspot.com/2010/02/info-calling-all-g...

I begin to wonder just what is going on. The current alerations for April along with possibly other changes are certainly not a good marketing ploy, upsetting customers is not a good idea.

20CN which costs the most from BT appears to be the problem but many exchanges do not have upgrade dates to 21CN showing particularly the small Market 1 exchanges. It becomes a 'postcode lottery' IMO
(I'm assuming you are asking me, as you replied to me). O2 LLU and Be LLU enabled figures are the same, so I don't quite understand your opening question.

Is your statement about 20CN nothing to do with that question? As Be have no 20CN or even 21CN connections. O2 Access, which is BT Wholesale based may have both or may just be 20CN - there is no public information on that so far as know.

My chart has changed frown copied/pasted for you.

This month Bytes Rate Units
Off peak (all line types) 813,165,221 100GB 0.01
20CN night (12-9) 182,234,592 100GB 0.00
20CN daytime (9-6 M-F) 1,674,559,660 1GB 1.67
20CN evening (6-12 M-F) 76,835,201 100GB 0.00
Units so far this month
LOL - that's clear as mud! But thanks smile.

I can understand the 20CN daytime lines but not much else, and it doesn't seem to tie in with the existing times apart from the daytime ones.

I still think it will be fine for night time usage, when I was a customer aaisp used to meter the unlimited usage periods anyway and never did charge for the usage and that was a couple of years back.

From what I can see in both the status page update and the link robertos posted the reason night time is not mentioned is simply because there is no change to it.

It could certainly turn out to be a "goody" RobertoS - though I seriously hope not. Reading your reply, and sifting through the links you posted, I came across this...

Quoted from RevK:

In practice, as always, we try to give plenty of notice of changes, and we discuss the changes with customers in advance. There is no compelling reason to remove the "night time is cheaper" logic from the tariffs as night time is low usage (as with all ISPs). We may change the way that is done some time in the future, that is all, but only with lots of notice.

If this is true, then why weren't 20CN customers included in these discussions? I was certainly not contacted at any point to discuss the plans. Admittedly, I myself am I new customer, attracted by the high bandwidth and unique tariff structure. I only use 100gig if I am really hammering it - I only pay for 2 Units, but I don't appreciate that I have had my bandwitdh cut in half in the short space that I have been with AAISP. Fair enough, the limits used to be lower, etc etc, but when I joined these new tariffs were the way forward for AAISP - any they "believed everyone would be better off".

I can understand that they've made a mistake - they have gambled that giving more bandwidth won't hit them where it hurts, but it has - but seriously...reducing our 20CN by half, yet increasing 21CN usage allowance?! Thats just insulting!

Makes sense if you include the explanation at the bottom of the usage page wink

Off peak (all line types) - Rate 100GB
Night time special - Rate 1TB **** 2am - 6am
20CN night (12-9) - Rate 100GB
20CN daytime (9-6 M-F) - Rate 1GB
20CN evening (6-12 M-F) - Rate 100GB

Peak/Daytime usage is 9am to 6pm, Monday to Friday. Off peak is all other times.

*Night time usage: We currently have a special bonus aimed at people doing backups and file transfers over night. Instead of the normal 100GB/unit off peak tariff, between 2am and 6am usage is metered at 1.00TB/unit.

The reason they've split it up into day/evening/night is the evening usage rate will be dropping to 50GB.

I still think the rates and time allocations are good, and very competitive compared to other ISPs

I only half agree with you. Off-peak is now competitive & comparible with other ISP's (rather than better) and peak time is prety dire, even though it isnt that long.

You're missing the point that only 20CN users are suffering though - everyone else seems to be reaping the benefts.

Hi

2am - 6am is not changing and remains metered at 1000GB/unit.

Thanks for your reply and for clarifying this.

However, do you wish to comment on why you have taken away a lot of usage allowance from your 20CN customers, and at the same time given more to the rest of your users?

I can understand taking away some of the 20CN allowance - mistakes can be made, 20CN is expensive, I understand that - but to then go and give other users extra...surely you can see how this could be viewed as a slap in the face to your seemingly less important 20CN customers?
