Question on Extra Broadband lines

[link to this post]

Morning,

I was looking at AAISP with a view to possibly migrating across, I have two PSTN lines so was interested in the Extra Broadband line service they offer where you just pay for the line and share the same login and allowance as the main line, my question is can one line be 21CN and the other BE or do they both have to be the same?

The two lines dont have to be the same, you can bond BT and BE line. This can be useful for resilience, eg: if BT go down then you still have the BE line and vice versa.

Hi,

Yes you can have a BT and BE share the same login and usage. As pointed out and I guess one of your reasons for wanting to do this would be the benefit of added resilience.
The above post has been made by an ISP REPRESENTATIVE (although not necessarily the ISP being discussed in the post).

Thanks for the confirmation, that was my thinking behind it.

Thanks, yes the extra resilience was my main reason for wanting this.

I assume a block of 8 IP's wouldn't be a problem and would there be any charge for this?

How does the IP addressing work if you have two lines?

As long as you have need for a number of IPs we can set up an adequate block for you. So in this case if you need 8 IPs we would set up a /28. Or if you only needed 6 usable then a /29 would do the job.

The IPs will not cost you anything.

How does the IP addressing work if you have two lines?

We will basically just route the IPs down both lines, so the traffic will be shared across both and if one line goes down then the IPs are just routed down the line that is still up.

On the control pages you will have control of the IP routing, eg: which block goes over which lines and which lines they can fallback to.
