On Zen G.fast "Unlimited Fibre 4" (330/50), routed via London.



Average single-thread speeds are quite a bit less than multi thread, but in most cases it isn't really a problem. It seems to be sustained at around that all day, every day. At least it is better than being routed via Manchester - this impacted single-thread speeds (and latency, as it didn't make sense from a geographical perspective anyway).

This is my IDNET test results at 6.45am.




To be honest, i'm really not that impressed with them overall.

Agreed, ours is about the following give or take 5 Mbits via BT (both taken just now):



But I assume that will change over time once more people get FTTP.

That's possibly because you have been put on Zen backhaul.

You need to complain to IDNet. Ask them which backhaul you are on and give them the opportunity to escalate to the supplier.

They have swapped me from TTB to Zen to BTw and BTw is by far the best on my line.

You do need to give them the opportunity to resolve your issue.

If IDNet can't, then I'm sure AAISP will be able to if you want to consider migrating.

I did email support and they confirmed i am on Zen backhaul and also said they are not showing any issues being reported.

They asked me to do various tests which i have done and replied with but so far i haven't heard back.

I would consider AAISP but they are quite expensive as we are heavy users here and 200GB would not cover it most of the time.

Don't fotget that AAISP have recently revised their prices see here.

It's a shame they don't do an unlimited package, especially considering the cost!

My existing supplier is basically not interested in my single thread issues.

I get the usual 'line tests fine' spiel.

They even suggested i tried to get hold of another router to try.

I think in that post you explain precisely why AAISP costs more.

It would be interesting to see some stats on what the average Unlimited download is per month. Yes, AAISP does cost more; however, it does offer a 2000GB package with 50% unused data rollover, and the ability to flip usage contracts monthly.

For example, let us assume that my average monthly consumption was 400GB. I could buy 2000GB for £55 (including line) for month one, and then revert back to a 200GB contract for £10 less.

At the end of month 1, I would carry forward 1600/2 plus the monthly allowance of 200GB - or 1000GB for Month 2.

At the end of month 2, I would carry forward 600/2 plus the monthly allowance of 200GB - or 500GB for Month 3.

At the end of month 3, I would probably have to elect for the 2000GB contract for month 4 which with the carry forward would give c.2050GB.

Rinse and repeat.

Given the above, AAISP does not look to be that expensive - that said, its basic package is a bit frugal for a sizeable home.
