Google Nest WiFi Router and ICMP/Pint

[link to this post]

does anyone know of a way to get BQM to work with this? or an alternative?

I have a Virgin media superhub in modem mode, going into the google nest wifi router - and i just get constant RED in the BQM.

looking into it it looks like the VM hub supports pings in modem mode...but the Google Nest WiFi router doesn't. does that sound right?

sorry not v good at networking stuff!

The VM hub ‘transparent’ when in modem mode. If the Google Nest box does not reply to ICMP echo packets, then you need to see if this can be changed. Or you can put the VM hub back into router mode, and connect the Google Nest, and turn off WiFi on the VM hub.

Yeah that was the conclusion I have come to. And that the Google nest WiFi does not have a way of supporting this. So I think I need to double NAT for a while to let it test

To assist with double NAT you could set the Virgin Hub to put the Google Nest in DMZ. But that might stop the BQM working !!

A DMZ working correctly will forward the pings to the DMZ host.
That would stop the Virgin Hub responding and would forward the pings to the Google Nest.

My PlayStation 4 was responding to my BQM for a few weeks before i noticed it was assigned to a DMZ in error.

Agreed, my exclamation marks was because I realised that its a catch-22, you can fix one problem (double nat) only by breaking the fix for the original query.
