Hmmm... the same thread that claims the 2.32e firmware fixes the issue!

Unhooked the OR modem at 8:00pm last night, switching to the 8800NL with latest official firmware to try. OK till 11:00pm when all hell broke loose, so I installed the 2.32d.dh65 Beta at that point. I did NOT do the usual factory reset advised for a firmware upgrade, as it had been pulled due to folks not being able to connect. It is now working fairly well. A couple of re-syncs overnight have gained 6meg of what I lost. Still some fiddling to do with settings like INP, which are on for upstream by default, but not needed at the moment as I see it.

Cont ..... Beta Firmware no better so returning the piece of junk - Giving the TP-LINK TD-W9980 a whirl which seems the combo with fewest problems.

If I may ask... what are you liking about the TD-W9980?

How does it perform speed wise?

What type of cabinet/exchange are you on?

Though the TP-Link stats are not the most informative, it is a far better device. Billion has rubbish Wi-Fi (6db down on my old Billion 7800N) as well as latency spikes every 2.5 hours. It could also not hold a connection on my problematic line where both variants of the OR modem are also a no go.
TP-Link TD-W9980 has good Wi-Fi, gigabit ports all round as well as built is servers. More importantly, it is the most stable VDSL2 modem/router all in one as far as research shows. Running well at the moment and DLM gradually giving me lost speed back.

Thank you greatly for the feedback. As you say, there's a big difference between the two BQM graphs.

The whole 2.5 hour spike thing has been a bit annoying, and Billion don't seem bothered.

I think I'll have to be having a word with Amazon about returning the 8800NL!

Are you using the TP-Link on an ECI or Huawei cabinet?

Huawei Cabinet. A resync this morning giving me another three meg back from the damage the Billion did. getting there slowly. At 56 meg, I am in no hurry for the other twelve so long as it's stable.
