Help Setting up BQM

[link to this post]

Hi I'm trying to setup the BQM on my connection as it's performing poorly.
I've got a virgin Hub 3.0 setup in modem mode going into a Synology 2600 router. I've setup a BQM but get continuous red on the graph. I believe I've allowed the required IP on the firewall.
TCP/UDP source 80.249.99.164 as allowed.

Not sure if the setup is wrong on the router or modem?, as the virgin box is in modem mode I'm not able to alter any settings for ping.

Thanks

The protocol should be ICMP.

Hi

thanks, I just spotted that after posting It's now ICMP but still doesn't seem to be responding.
In the Synology UI it shows the hits, which are counting up, about 4000 now so I take it this is the ping being received?.

Try it with a range: 80.249.99.160-80.249.99.175

According to https://www.thinkbroadband.com/faq/broadband-quality..., this is what is required for the Synology RT2600ac:

Under Network Centre -> Security -> Add a rule to the firewall with a "Single host" of 80.249.99.164 (for IPv4) permitting traffic.

Hi Sorry for the delay, yes got it working in the end, I tried the range of IP addresses which didn't work at first but then after a reboot has worked great. Thanks for the help!

Hi Everyone,

Newbie here, so my apologies if I get anything wrong or say something dumb here...

I've tried both the recommended "official" thinkbroadband single-IP address firewall settings for BQM on my RT2600ac and the suggestions in this post (including rebooting the router), but to no avail - my BQM graph still shows 100% red. Are there any other settings that I should look at?

For reference I've created a firewall rule to allow ICMP through via the IP address range quoted in this post, both for Source and Destination. I've also relaxed the DoS Protection setting for ICMP from 1 packet per second to 3. I'm able to ping 80.249.99.164 successfully from SRM's Network Tools.

Is there anything else I should try? As far as I can tell my broadband connection is generally OK for other traffic.

Thanks in advance!

Update: BQM now shows 100% dropped packets for the first 7 1/2 hours of the monitor, but normal operation after that - without any changes to my RT2600ac's settings that would explain it:

My Broadband Ping

I'm of course delighted that BQM's now behaving properly, but does anyone have any ideas as to why it should suddenly sort itself out like that?

Thanks in advance!

Peace and friendship
