BQM vs ECI modem

[link to this post]

I'm running my FTTC on an ECI modem for the past few days and my BQM is all red frown

I've opened the required port in my router's firewall, still no joy. Perhaps the ECI just blocks ICMP by default and there's nothing I can do about it?

The Openreach ECI modem is configured as a dumb bridge. It passes all traffic to the router. It can't even see traffic to block it.

Have you verified your public IP address? In the days before I somehow acquired an unwanted fixed IP this was my indicator that a re-sync had occurred.

Must be the router then. I had an EdgeRouter X connected with whatever the correct port/protocol is open. But either I'm setting it wrong or the ER-X won't play.

No matter, no big deal.

No, it's not that. I've had the same fixed IP for a dozen or more years. Probably my mis-setting the router to accept the pings.
