No one seems to really know ... do a search on all forums across all posts for "sawtooth" and plenty of references.

This is mine now: My Broadband Ping

It went away and is now back.

Try another router, if possible.

Thanks, what router is good to try? I have the virgin hub5 and thought this was a good router?

Aha didn’t figure on it being a Virgin cable connection. You’ll have to keep the Hub5 and perhaps put it in modem mode (to connect a third party router) if this is causing you an actual issue. Otherwise it could just be a latent defect of the DOCSIS cable segment you’re on, in which case a router swap won’t make a difference anyway.

I posted about this when I moved to FTTP. Mine went away after a while. Same router, so it can't be explained by a change of router.
