Virgin Media High Post RS Errors

[link to this post]

Posted on VM forums and was asked to run a monitor, but I have not had a reply to my posted result. I've never used the BQM before, so hoping someone can interpret my result.

For anyone else, a Post RS error" (Reed-Solomon error) on a cable modem indicates that data packets arrived corrupted and couldn't be fixed by the modem's error correction. Looking at your data, it looks like the pre-RS errors dwarf the Post RS errors and a fair job is being made of resolving them, if I am reading this right.

Standard advice appears to be to have good tight clean connections, although some of them are outwith your control, being in the street on in a cabinet.

Yes, the errors are being correct, but I've been told the Post RS Errors should be very low.

I've been told it could be related to ingress somewhere, possibly as you say, at the cabinet.

Got an engineer coming next week, so hopefully they can check that out.
