BQM gone mental

[link to this post]

I've just upgraded from 500Mbps to 1Gbps Virgin Broadband and replaced my old TP Link Archer C5400X with a TP Link GE800 however my BQM graph has suddenly started seeing max ping spikes of around 50ms constantly, anyone any ideas?

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

Speedtests seem to be giving me full speed at around 1150Mbps down and 109Mbps up with pings usually in the range 18ms to 28ms.

Why so much yellow?

Getting ‘No Data’ on your linked BQM.

That aside, did VM change anything on the cable side; new cable modem etc? Otherwise leave for a few days to see if it settles down. Try to avoid any router config changes.

Yes went from a hub 3 to hub 5 but only started happening after I changed from my old C5400X to the GE800.

I'm seeing the same message as Pheasant on your link, No Data

PS - The URL path of the BQM doesn't look right, have you shared the BQM and added that link to this thread?

Still can’t see your BQM from that new link.

From your profile page under the monitor in question click the “Share Live” button. Then in the Share Live Graph page, if you’ve never shared this before then click the “Generate” button. From there select the top option, “Direct Link” and the text will look like this:

A quick google on the TP Link GE800 says it's a good gaming router but you should make sure that QoS and UPNP are turned off as they can cause problems. It is normally the router that responds to the pings from BQM.

Funnily enough I did think of the QoS, turned off the wirelees QoS last night and all looks fine again since then:

Hopefully my BQM is showing now in the above link?

That’s better, can see it now and looks OK. Glad it was an easy fix. 👍

Router settings or anything which tries to rate limit ping can cause weirdness like that.

Yeah. Possibly something in those QoS or PNP settings as referenced, but never having had a TPLink router, I wouldn’t have any more idea on how this would necessarily influence ping responsiveness of these devices.
