My BT Max DSL Nightmare !!

So........my BT Voyager router turns up. Excellent !

I'm sure it'll only be a 5 minute job getting it all set up. I mean.....what could be simpler ! As they say in Half Life....." Nothing Can Possibly Go Wrong "

So off I go with the installation CD. Oh look.....how HELPFULL of BT to have lots of little on-screen drawings and diagrams to show exactly what to do.....and track my progress. Any dummy could understand this !

So in no time..... there I am, with my nice new router showing lots of green lights......connected to ethernet....etc..etc...yada yada. Everything looks perfect !

But NO. All is not well in BT-Tubbieland. It says it cant find the router. Hmmm. I wonder what that thing is on my PC with the green light that says 'Ethernet' ? I run my ethernet diagnostics. Yes....the card is working, there is nothing wrong. Hello......BT. But No....BT installer still says cannot find the router.

Well....after an hour of this I think stuff it. Let's just connect with the USB connector instead. What could be simpler ? Nothing can possibly go wrong.

And that's where the nightmare REALY starts !!! Every time I run the installation disk...the stupid thing still says it is 90% complete on the ethernet installation and would I mind completing that first.....stupid customer that I am. Sheesh ! Don't I know I haven't completed that yet !

But I don't WANT to complete that......you stupid piece of ****** software ! I want to re-start so I can do the USB installation instead !

Is there an option to restart ? Well of course not.....this is BT. So....I uninstall just about everything I can find with 'BT' on it. Surely now it will re-start from the beginning. But NO ! Still it says ' you are only 90% complete on your installation you stupid naughty customer.....please complete ', or words to that effect.

I do not think I have ever come across a more useless piece of ***** in my life. If anyone can tell me how to persuade the supid thing to start from the beginning again.....please let me know before I've banged my head on the wall right through to the neighbour's house.

And it gets worse.........

This pile of doggy do has now managed to set Internet Explorer so that it will only open in one window at a time.....and nothing I do will change it back again. I don't recall giving the software permission to screw up Internet Explorer for me. This is probably BT's way of forcing you to use their browser.

As for installation....amazingly....for a few seconds it actually popped up 'ethernet connection connected'. Oh wow ! It then said it was going to make changes to DHCP settings.....and I should then reboot. Oh great !!.....it's all going to work !!

But no............I reboot......and it's right back to saying ' cannot find router'.

I even managed to get the USB drivers installed.....so I could try USB instead. I have all 6 lights on.......yet still the stupid pile of **** says ' cannot find router'.

What a joke.
