Poor speed - but better speed on the way ?!

I moved from AOL to BT BroadBand Total Pack 3 at the beginning of July and to begin with I was very impressed with speeds of up to 3Mbps (which is what my line is or was capable of). However, up until today the maximum speed reached a whole whopping 123Kbps! Hmmmm only just under 3 times better than a modem!

I phoned up BT on Tuesday who said there was a fault on the line and they would get back to me. Today, the speed is up to 1.3Mbps and I got a phone call from BT. They said it is because the line is being worked on to get it up to 8Mbps so while it is being upgraded I will have problems. Does this ring true?

I must admit I don't mind having a bit of slowness if I'm going to get 8mbps

well difficult to say its not being worked on -- but there must be some sort of time frame to bring this work to a conclusion and then you'll have to take some readings again say at the end of the week, and if necessary get on to them again.

check your routers synch speeds, if u are connected via an ethernet cable and using any of the voyager modems tyoe the following in to your url line 192.168.1.1 this will bring up the routers home page and will advise you under the connection tab what your line up and down speeds are
