When I went to bed last night the downstream was 5,696k and upstream 448k. This morning the downstream is 5,376k and upstream the same from memory.
I remembered that our burglar alarm signalling / dialling sits hardwired across the incoming line so this morning removed it with a plan to put it on the phone side of the filter so that there is only the master socket then one filter before the house (and alarm) wiring. Removing the alarm dialler improves the noise margin (and possibly / probably reduces attenuation) partly I think because the dialler is just a relay on the end of c4m of cheap non-twisted pair cable with the wrong characteristics. I'd experimented with this on my previous service and found
My main question is; does the 10 day speed settling in process only start from the highest figure and work down? If so can I get BT to start / reset the process to start again. I'm in a rural area and was originally refused 512k service c2.5yrs ago.
Will it help to actually install the HomeHub as I'm still using my existing BT 2Wire router because it gives all of the stats, particularly with the 'hidden' management info.
These are the stats from my existing 2Wire / BT router:
Downstream Rate: 5376 kbps
Upstream Rate: 448 kbps
Channel: Interleaved
Current Noise Margin: 6.0 dB (Downstream), 22.0 dB (Upstream)
Current Attenuation: 32.0 dB (Downstream), 25.5 dB (Upstream)
Current Output Power: 19.0 dB (Downstream), 12.0 dB (Upstream)
