And I had this one - seems like the usage limits are under review.....Option 3 unlimited???

"Dear Customer,

This email is to advise you that last month you exceeded the usage allowance for your BT Total Broadband Option 1 service.

Your current monthly usage allowance is 2GB but we will be increasing this soon, to 5GB.

Your total usage for last month was 9.73 GB.

Don't worry, we're not going to take any action this month. However if you exceed the new 5GB allowance next month we will raise a charge based on

Option 3 will most certainly involve traffic shaping.

so does Option 4 :S

very odd at the moment...

monday - come 5pm bam 120KB/s on torrents, midnight exactly - 300KB/s+
tuesday - come 6pm bam 30KB/s on torrents, 12:30 slowly drifted up to 240 and seemed to be capped there
wed - come 6pm bam 20KB/s around 1am it started to lift but only about 120KB/s as of now (1:40)

in all cases well seeded torrents capable of 400+KB/s at any time without caps.

Since when did BT charge if you went over your download limit? This extract comes directly from their own website advertising Option 1 QUOTE " If you occasionally exceed this usage, it's not a problem. If you regularly exceed this amount, we may contact you about possibly upgrading to another package" UNQUOTE! Where in that statement is there anything about charging you?Moving to another option package is some thing altogether very different to charging you for your over usage.
I did not sign up to a package where they could do that and will be quoting them that statement if they send me any letters. I hope everyone else does the same.

interesting that option 1 is soon to be 5GB.

If option 3 is soon to be unlimited(*) then I wonder what option 2 will become. Hopefully 12-15GB as that would make it a keenly priced product at

Playing Devils Advocate I notice the word "may" in the middle of this statement. So they may contact you about possibly upgrading to another package or then again the may charge you for extra usage.

Worth getting legal advice before proceding further?

Argh, don't say it like that, makes it sound like they are going to make all Option 3 cutomers unllimited, which would be BT Total [censored] I'd rather have the 40 gig cap and not have the [censored] throttled out my connection thanks very much
