home hub dropping ppp with p2p

[link to this post]

I posted a while back complaning about the home hub playing up randomly. now it seems to just be killed by peer to peer, or purposley does it itself.

basically now it can take anything between 5 mins to a few hours but azureus will bring it down. Not so much when im only seeding but if i have a download then it will pack in after a while. I am using max connections globally as 200 and per torrent 80, i lowered it from 300/100 incase connections were giving it too much work. firmware version is currently 6.1.1.27.0 build_name=ZZJMAA6.11R

When it does this i loose the internet, router is still there and responding. Looking at the interface it shows this message:
Link Status: Disconnected
Type: PPPoA
Last Error Message: Disconnected because idle timeout reached

Connection to the exchange is maintained, after this has happened it will not reconnect. If you do try to force it to reconnect it freezes the web interface and you loose access that way. So using the DMT tool i can reboot it, after it comes back online i cannot access it using the interface. I have about 10 mins of telnet access then that dies too.

The only thing i can then do is unplug it to reset it (means playing with the alarm if its late too)

i appologise for the long post but its driving me crazy, probably a good job its capped at 20k any faster and the router craps its pants. is this a common problem? if its happening to other people il have to look into a replacement to the home hub as its probably more use as a door stop.

Sounds like a dodgey hub to me. When its handling large amounts of traffic it goes fubar. Try using u torrent , if not just ask for a new one as the hub does not shut down when using p2p

dovey,

Had very similar problems. Tried lowering incoming connections in Azuereus, tried different ports, all to no avail. Only way I can bring the connection back to life is to power off/on. I did notice 'kernel warm' messeges in the logs. Going to request a new hub this weekend.

I attempted to turn off the firewall, no luck there. Hubs recently updated to new firmware, so i'll give it a few goes on that. On the old firmware I was getting tons of rejected incoming transfers, even with application sharing ports configured and crazily when I turned the firewall off!
No problems with xbox live (non pc gamer).

edit:
Downloading a 5gb file off a private tracker now 600kb/s constant. I'll edit if it goes down.

Had it going since post. No problems as yet. Maybe firmware has sorted the issue.
