Help Getting Faster Speeds Pls

[link to this post]

Hi,
Ive had my 8meg service for over 2 and a half week now and im only getting 3mb most of the time and sometimes if lucky 4mb.

I am still on the original firmware, as im connected wirelessly to the Hub, im assuming it wont update.

How can I sync the hub to get faster speeds?
ALso it seems on msn it lags my transfers, had this problem with my belkin pre_n and ive even seitched off the firewall on the hub.
Any ideas?
Cheers!

You won't get 8 Mb. It's "up to 8 Mb". You have to be living very close to the exchange with a good quality line to get close to that. On average people get 4 Mb.

If you enter your number in the small box below on the following web page, it'll tell you your predicted connection speed: http://www.bt.com/btbroadband/pps/index.jsp?vendorid=P19

I wouldn't give a monkeys chaff for that speed indication test....

I get a throughput speed of 3.4/3.5MB

It's still saying I can only get 1MB

Our initial test on your postcode indicates that you should be able to have BT Total Broadband with a likely maximum speed of up to 6.5Mb (Megabits per second).

Well for some its accurate and some not. For me it's quite accurate. It says I could get 4 Mb but depending on weather conditions or how many times I get disconnections, or how many times I have rebooted my router, I'll usually get 2.5 to 3.5 Mb.
