Home hub question

I have just migrated from VirginNet and have recieved my home hub today. The question is - can I connect the hub to my existing router so that I can use the hub phone? I don't want to replace my current router because it has more capability than the home hub.

Has anybody tried this with any success?

The HH has to be the router connected to ADSL in order to use the hub phone. You can do it the other way round by disabling DHCP on your existing router.

What extra capability has your current router got that the Home Hub hasn't?

I've currently got three ethernet attached devices, a wireless printserver and several wireless laptops. I invested in a Belkin G+ modem in order to improve range (which it did), I'm worried that the HH will be a step backwards.

I don't think it will do, all of these supposed wireless improvements are totally useless. They have not been ratified and simply don't work. Take BT's G+ speedboost, all it done was exchanged bursts of packets requiring a BT wireless card(Broadcom Chipset) which even then didn't really change much.

But try it and see.

Plug the current device into one of the HH's Ethenet ports and disable DHCP on the current device, that will work for the Ethernet devices. However don't know if under those conditions your curent bax can act as a Wireless Access Point. Anyone?

Well I reluctantly installed the HH yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by some of the facilities that it offered. I had been put off by reading the instruction manuals which made it look like a 'Fisher Price, My first router' type device, and implied that the SSID and WEP key were fixed. After mooching around the menus I managed to change the SSID and discovered that it supported WPA and WPA2, so after changing them to the settings of my old router all of my WIFI devices happily connected.

But I have one question: where is all of the information about the 'hidden' settings, such as port forwarding?

Port forwarding is called application sharing.
