Will things get better

[link to this post]

I have just signed up on BT option 3 and am in the middle of my ten day line learning period. Please can someone tell me that download speeds will get better after 10 days. Just downloaded a file at a measly 29.4KB /Sec.

Yeah a stuck profile, nothing you can do until the 10 day period is over but yeah things will get better.

You should currently be getting 2meg.

There must be some traffic shaping on my connection post 6pm as I have just downloaded a file at 245KB/SEC 4.30 p.m

Nothing, what is it your downloading which is going at that speed? Just the speedtest you posted is fine apart from the profile that is.

I was downloading Irvanview from TUCOWS site last night but today downloaded from Audacity website at 245KB/SEC - must be line shaping

Most likely tucows. BT would not shape HTTP or FTP.

The time that you are talking about is peak use time. It's more likely to be contention rather than shaping.
