Same here for past two weeks have tried using different dns and that helps a little.

Also interestingly have moved house, in the same town even closer to the exchange than before with 210M of cable roughly ( see stats ) and get full synch no errors to speak of but only achieve 387 to 412 KB/sec speed tests any time of day or night. Old house had almost the same stats ( less margin, around 8db ) but I could consistantly get 700 KB/sec on speed tests.

Any ideas? Different dslam? Different backhaul?

Dreadful connection at the moment. Can browse with no problems then all of a sudden really slow, huge packet loss then ok again. Other times hub just gives up and disconnects. Reported it with BT who said I had a line fault - line faults phoned today and closed the call because it was working ok at the time they rang - got to ring them back again now but it's a bit late so will have to do it tomorrow.

Not seen anything like an accessible BT network status page, although I think there is an 0800 number with pre recorded network updates.
Judging by the amount of users suffering near dial-up speeds at varying times of the day, I haven't bothered ringing customer service, assuming somewhere, someone within BT is aware of the problem.
Perhaps its something to do with malicious internet worms and such like.

My connection seems ok although my friend 18 miles away is having very erratic download speeds. Goes from lightning quick to unusable normally in evening times.

Speed has been painful for the past two weeks here as well. Bittorrent speeds are at most 50-60k. Web pages are fast if I'm not using the Internet for anything else. Did a speed test on here and was getting 0.5Mb/sec.

Shame I'm tied into a contract with BT. Wouldn't put up with it otherwise.

Same here in Lancashire.
Speedtest show 2.8 ~ 4 Mb but awful browsing.
Started getting lots of disconnections also - 4 disconnects at aroud 21:30 each time I tried to refresh the web page the hub would reboot. Wait till lights where stable try again and same hub reboot. Managed a small amount of web browsing.

Funny thing though with the reset my downstream speed went from around 5100kbps up to around 6200kbps. I thought it would have seen the line as unstable and slowed the downstream?

Yes I do, they are still looking into it as we speak. I will post it as soon as I know anything else.

So BT are agreeing that there is a slow speed issue, or they would not be looking into it, yes ?
It would be good to know its not my set up.

I cannot rule out that it is your set up but BT are investigation whether they have found a problem or not I am not in a position to comment about it. But judging by the number of people experiencing the same problems I doubt its your equipment.
